Neural Therapy
Neural therapy is a procedure most commonly used to treat chronic pain. However, it has a much wider application to treat a variety of conditions and Illnesses. Neural therapy involves injections of local anesthetics into scars, peripheral nerves, and other areas of the body to treat the disturbances in the body’s neurological control mechanisms. Each procedure aims to regulate autonomic nervous system dysfunction, which has been linked to many chronic conditions.
What Does a Neural Therapy Treatment look like?
Treatments most commonly involve the injection of a local anesthetic called procaine with a very fine needle. Sometimes dextrose or ozone are used as well. Injections are made into specific areas of the body based on the condition being treated. Often there are multiple small injections just beneath the skin around a certain point. Other times a single, deeper injection is used. Our skin has many nerve endings and some areas more than others, so there is a chance of minor pain in some areas. However, the pain is usually minor and short lived as procaine will quickly numb the area.
How does it work?
Neural therapy is rooted in the belief that energy flows freely through the body, maintaining balance and health. According to this belief, factors such as injury, disease, malnutrition, stress, and scar tissue can disrupt this flow. These disruptions lead to disturbances in the electrochemical function of tissues and create energy imbalances known as “interference fields.”
The concept of interference fields suggests that these imbalances can manifest as chronic pain or other health issues. Neural Therapy treats these interference fields by using procaine or other substances to restore proper energy flow and function within the body. This method is thought to help alleviate symptoms switching the autonomous nervous system from a sympathetic state (fight or flight) to a parasympathetic state (rest and digest).
